Diving magazine for kids launches
Sea Urchins targets the young to take an interest in marine life
Sea Urchins is a brand new diving magazine designed for children.
Launched just before Christmas, the publication is the brainchild of marine biologist Samantha Hewitt.
Not only is Samantha a PADI qualified professional, but she also happens to be the sister of X-Factor runner-up and Celebrity jungle contestant, Stacey Solomon.
Together with Dragons’ Den businessman Theo Paphitis, the two ladies revealed the inaugural copy of Sea Urchins at the London Aquarium in November 2011.
Sea Urchins is a colourful magazine full of features about interesting marine life, conservation, and the need to protect our oceans. Yet despite the adult themes, it is put together in a fun and imaginative way that youngsters will enjoy.
Samantha stresses the role adult divers have to play in educating the next generation about the diversity and beauty of the oceans.
Sea Urchins has a part to play in this, and it might even encourage some parents to take an interest too.
It worked on Stacey Solomon: she has recently passed her PADI Open Water course with the London School of Diving.
