Rebreather divers needed for survey
Study hopes to shed light on CO2 canister use
Do you dive using a rebreather? If so, The Rubicon Foundation would like to hear from you.
Rubicon is running a survey in conjunction with the Divers Alert Network, Duke Anesthesiology, and the Navy Experimental Diving Unit.
With the help of as many rebreather divers as possible, the plan is to gather data about the use of carbon dioxide canister use (CO2 scrubbers.)
This particular web-based questionnaire is evaluating CO2 canister tracking technology within the recreation and technical diving community.
Currently, there are three main ways of tracking canister performance: time; a thermistor measuring the exothermic reaction; or alarms set off by the unit electronically.
The organisers say information will be collected in an anonymous fashion, so participants should answer as freely as possible.
Preliminary results of the CO2 canister survey will be presented in Orlando at Rebreather Forum 3 in May 2012.
