Spider crabs ran free on a Dorset road, following a lorry crash.
Two tonnes of the crustacean species were tipped across the A35 dual carriageway near Puddletown.
The driver and a female passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile the emergency services received several calls from concerned – and no doubt bemused – motorists reporting the incident.
The crashed van belonging to a seafood company was being driven from Devon loaded with two tonnes of Spider crabs.
When police arrived on the scene most of the sea creatures were dead, although a few were alive and wandering about.
Spider crabs migrate into shallow waters off our coast twice a year to breed, although they’ve never walked up the A35 before.
