Fresh Dive Leaders to begin training

The first scheduled training of the BSAC Diver Leader 2011 project kicks off this coming weekend.

Government body Sport England provided funding for the initiative. BSAC is keen to get more divers trained to at least Diver Leader (DL) standard.

The qualification opens the door to becoming instructors and dive managers, as well as growing a branch’s capacity.

The Dive Leader project will also provide direct support to develop more club members to this key grade and retain them.

BSAC’s initiative includes regional training days for training, providing support for regional and branch-based courses and investing in training materials and associated resources.

The training days are delivered by some of the Regional Teams and will provide open water lessons from the DL syllabus.

Scheduled events kick off this weekend (13th March 2011) at Chepstow and Yorkshire.

These are followed on March 15 at Stoney Cove (midweek event), 19 and 20 in Plymouth, and Swanage on 26 and 27th March.

The events are open to BSAC Sports Divers who can demonstrate that they have the relevant training materials (TP3, TP7 or TP9).

If you pay online there’s a 10 pound charge for the event, but there are no further charges for attendance.
