Apeks regulator and BC recalls

Customers advised to take BCD or regs in for visual inspection

Apeks has announced a duo of recalls for the WTX BCD and certain TX, ATX and XTX regulator 2nd Stages.

Parent company Aqua Lung says it has identified cases of a poorly retained oral inflate button that has worked loose from an Apeks WTX inflator.

If the button were to come off, the spring behind the button would also come off thereby removing the tension needed to keep the valve closed.

Should this happen while underwater, it could lead to a leak of the BC contents out of the oral mouthpiece.

Apeks dealers have been made aware of the issue. The advice for now is not to dive with a WTX BCD until it has been inspected by an authorised Apeks dealer.

Meanwhile there’s a limited recall of Apeks brand TX, ATX and XTX 2nd Stage regulators.

It only affects a 2nd stage or octopus purchased before July 2008 that has not undergone an authorised annual service.

In this case, the valve is described as an ‘incorrectly assembled 2nd stage’.

Apeks says “Owners of an (affected) Apeks regulator or octopus that has never had an authorised annual service, regardless of how recently purchased, please take the regulator/octopus to your Apeks dealer to be visually inspected.”

Customers are being advised not to dive with the regulator until it has been visually inspected. For more information, contact the Apeks Customer Service Department on 01254 692200.
