Irish Dive Show gears up

Dive Ireland 2012 takes place in Dublin this coming weekend of 3-4th March.

The Republic of Ireland’s main public and trade show, Dive Ireland is now in its sixth year.

The show is organised by The Irish Underwater Council (CFT) and held at the City North Hotel, just a whisker away from Dublin Airport.

Ireland is… well, an island, and as such there’s load of coastline and some truly world-class diving around its shores. Scuba diving and snorkelling are understandably popular in the Emerald Isle and accessible to all.

Organisers promise plenty for the diver and non-diver alike, from the latest gear to training courses, dive holidays and travel, and much more besides.

In the centenary year of the RMS Titanic’s sinking, Irish diver Rory Golden will make a presentation about his visits to the wreck. Rory first descended to the legendary liner in 2000 and returned in 2005.

Also on stage will be Connie Kelleher of the Gaeltacht’s underwater archaeology unit. She will detail two shipwrecks discovered off Donegal believed to be from the 16th Century Spanish Armada and 18th Century French Armada fleets.

The usual plethora of dive manufacturers will also be in attendance, with special deals up for grabs. Look out for Atomic Aquatics, O’Three, Cathx, Suunto and many more besides.

Dive Ireland 2012 at the City North Hotel in Dublin opens its doors from 1000-1800 on Saturday 3^rd and 1000-1700 on Sunday 4^{th march}. Entry costs €10.00 per person, or two-for-one on the Sunday before noon.
