Chepstow café bar takes shape

The new café bar complex at the National Diving & Activity Centre is taking shape.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always ravenous for a sausage sarnie or burger and chips after a dip at an inland site. Thankfully, they’re on the menu at the new eatery.

The NDAC is located just up the A48 near Chepstow, South Wales, and just a stone’s throw from the old Severn Bridge.

Called The View, the new café bar will have a veranda and patio area, enabling divers to relax and socialise between dives and take in…. well, the view.

It’s no flimsy Portakabin either, with over five tonnes of steel already gone in and construction workers busy installing fixtures and fittings.

The NDAC in Chepstow is a former quarry with a range of depths suitable for all skill levels. At its deepest point, divers can descend almost 80 metres.

That makes it well suited for Trimix and mixed gas training. Luckily Chepstow has an onsite gas blending station, classrooms, showers, and all other amenities to make diving more comfortable.

Work will force the NDAC to close to the public on Thursday the 29th and Friday the 30th March, with normal business resuming on Saturday 31st March 2012.
