Scuba Tours Worldwide is offering more than £800 off a commemorative Truk lagoon trip in February.

This blue water trip coincides with the 70th Anniversary of ‘Operation Hailstone’ during which the US navy laid siege to Truk Lagoon in a bid to destroy the Japanese navy’s forward military base stationed there, as well as in retaliation for the attack on Pearl Harbour.

wrecks lie in waters between 28m and 45m

It was a relentless assault lasting two days over 17th/18th February 1944, during which 30 waves of American bombers sent over 60 vessels and around 250 Japanese planes to the bottom.

Truk Lagoon diving is pretty accessible. As a sheltered lagoon, there is little current to deal with and sea conditions are usually very favourable. Some wrecks are in very shallow waters – just a few meters below the surface – while the deepest is at 65m. Typically, the wrecks lie in waters between 28m and 45m.

With a total saving of £828pp, STW’s trip costs £1,847pp which includes return Manila to Truk flights, 1 night Blue Lagoon Resort, 7 nights SS Thorfinn liveaboard (7 full days diving) and 3 nights Truk Stop Hotel (2 full days diving).

Scuba Tours Worldwide can also arrange flights. Give them a call on 01284 748010.
