The new Rhino sidemount wing from Custom Divers is one ‘horny’ piece of kit.

Don’t worry, I’m now out of puns.

This new garb was one of the surprises of this year’s London International Dive Show in ExCel, Docklands.

the Rhino is perfectly timed

There’s a surge of interest in diving sidemount going on, with new products from the likes of Hollis Gear. So the Rhino is perfectly timed.

The unit has yet to be CE certified so details are preliminary, but it looks set to be Custom Divers’ lightest wing yet.

It weighs in at around 2.5kg, and features several other innovations.

There are four ports to mount an inflator hose from and the buoyancy cell is built using a new reinforced material.

This is hardy enough to be called “stab proof”, and ideal for use in abrasive overhead environments.

It’s actually pretty multi-functional. Stick a single or twin cambands on the mounting plate and it becomes a conventional lightweight wing.

Attention to detail looks superb. Take the buckles, for instance – unlike the stainless steel ones on the Sportster, these are brushed steel with embossed CD logo. Me wanty.

The Custom Divers Rhino will retail for around £495.
