Training agency SSI has teamed up with Oceanic Worldwide to offer a dedicated dive computer course.

With 2.5 million members, SSI – or Scuba Schools International, to use its full name – is one of the midsized training agencies.

Like other agencies, SSI already offers speciality courses in various areas such as boat diving, drysuits, first aid, navigation and wreck diving.

However, the latest course is tied in to the Oceanic range of recreational dive computers.

The course consists of a classroom theory lesson, followed up by a session in open water.

Oceanic Worldwide is behind the course materials, which are available to SSI instructors online.

Applicable models are the Oceanic Veo 1.0, Veo 2.0, Veo 3.0 and the Geo 2.0 Personal Dive Computers.

Doug Krause, Marketing Manager of Oceanic Worldwide, said: “We have learned that when divers are more comfortable using their gear, it increases their safety and enjoyment.

“Computer-specific courses are great tools for exposing divers to the benefits of using personal dive computers while adding the social aspect to learning something new.”
