Divers erect soggy Xmas tree
British divers in Malta ‘spruce’ up the seabed for charity
A Christmas tree was erected underwater by BSAC divers in Malta on Boxing Day.
Calypso Sub Aqua Club (CSAC) and Dive Systems organized the event for charity.
It took some ninety divers – including one dressed as Father Christmas – to erect the metal ‘tree trunk’.
They then decked it out with baubles, lighting and other ornate decorations.
The 18-foot tree took shape rapidly as divers swam up and placed ornaments in turn.
CSAC, a BSAC overseas branch set up in Malta in 1970, said it was extremely pleased by the support it had received.
